Peter loves his retirement when he finds a freebies website (16-1-2008, 1:16) Peter finished his jigsaw puzzle and idly picked up the newspaper. He scanned a few words and then put it down. He sighed deeply and stood up, looked over to the window and looked out over the garden. It was raining and he made a mental note of a few jobs that he needed to do when the sun came out. Then he walked over to his desk and wrote the list of jobs on a notepad. He sighed again. He cleared his coffee cup away to the kitchen, wiped a surface and got out a tin of soup for lunch and lined it up neatly on the side. He put the pan next to it, got out a spoon and a bowl and made a neat line. It was 9.30 am. Peter had to admit to himself that he was finding retirement rather dull. No, scratch that, he was BORED! His wife was out shopping; he had read the news, ironed a shirt and now needed a new job. As a retirement present, his kids had bought him a computer. He had never used one before, but had read the manual last night, and at least it posed him a challenge. He set it up according to manual, and thought, “What now?” The Internet, he head heard people talk about it but really was bamboozled about what it really did.
He figured out how to navigate and suddenly he was off... he searched for some free e-mail stuff so he could find out more about how to send messages and then, intrigued by some of the sites that he found, he entered the words web freebies, and a very exciting site appeared. Read more>> |
Jane moves to the UK and saves money with a freebie website (16-1-2008, 2:1) “What can I do today?” thought Jane; she had just moved over to the UK for a thrilling new job and was at a loose end. She had two weeks before her job actually started and had organised her furniture and clothes into her new flat already. As she hadn’t started work, she didn’t have any friends to call or anyone to go and see. She knew she would make friends quickly; she was a gregarious girl and always mixed well. However, she didn't want to waste these two weeks so she planned to do a lot of sightseeing – London has some amazing tourist attractions and she just needed to find out how to locate them, how to get there and then she could go out.
The Internet was the most obvious option for getting the info and she sat down at her brand new desk and started to hunt for the places she wanted to see. She noticed a site advertising free stuff on the Internet, and decided to take a look, they seemed to be offering killer freebies that would make her new world seem a bit more fun. She came across info on tourist sites and some vouchers to get in free to certain places and was very pleased indeed. Read more>> |

Lisa knew that it was great that he played outside, but she was concerned that he may fall behind in his schooling so she wanted to encourage him to use the computer for learning. First she had to show him that it could be fun.

She showed Jake and he showed a flicker of interest that there was free free stuff available on the computer – he hadn’t known that he could find things to do on the computer and sat down for the first time to take a look. A new horse for Sabrina (16-1-2008, 2:23) It was Sabrina’s birthday in one week and Joanne couldn't think what to get her. Sabrina would be eight years old and all she wanted was a pony. Joanne and Alan had space on their farm for a pony but hadn’t been able to find one in time for the big day. That made a big hole in their plans and they knew that Sabrina would be devastated. Joanne sat down and started to look through a magazine for inspiration but sighed and put it down. Poor Sabrina would be so disappointed. The phone trilled and raised her from her thoughts. It was Alan.
“I’ve found one!” He practically shouted down the phone. "My friend Peter heard that we were looking and his mare had a foal last night. It is beautiful, a lovely roan, long gangly legs and great big brown eyes. Sabrina will be ecstatic.”
What a relief! Now, even though they had found the right pony, it wouldn’t be able to be separated from its mother for a few weeks so they could take Sabrina to see it but she would have no surprise at home. Joanne decided to look on the Internet to see if she could find some horsey accessories to wrap up.
The first site she found had a load of free horse stuff to be given away - how fantastic, she immediately answered a few questions and arranged for some freebies for fans of horse to be sent in time for Sabrina’s birthday. Read more>> |

Holiday fun! (6-2-2008, 17:58) Sam was totally bored, he had been staying with his grandparents in Canada for a week now and nothing had happened. Sure, he had been for some walks and sat and fished with his granddad but he wanted some action. They had no TV and no radio, he felt very isolated.
He wandered around the enormous house and found a tiny room he didn’t know about – he crept inside and there was a large computer. He couldn’t believe his eyes, they hadn’t mentioned that they had a computer and this would mean he could entertain himself a bit – might take the edge off all the nature and wildlife!
He ran downstairs and asked if he could use it – his grandmother was really surprised, she used the computer for her work and had no idea that a 13 year old would be interested in it. She said yes of course.
He dashed back upstairs and sat down.
What should he do first? He decided to see if he could download some music and found a site offering mp3 freebies so he started to get some tunes for his player, and then found that he could get free stuff got a voucher for a new player to buy when he got back home. Read more>> |
